We’ve welcomed 13 new businesses and enabled around 300 local jobs in 2022

The Elsie Whiteley Innovation Centre proves it remains a leader in providing modern workspaces after reaching full occupancy; the first time the centre has reached this milestone in over ten years. Welcoming 13 new tenants throughout 2022, the Centre has enabled around 300 local jobs and provided £7,900 worth of grants to start-up businesses.

With almost 15 years in business, Elsie Whiteley Innovation Centre is looking back on its transformation from a textile mill to a thriving professional hub. In recent years it has invested in the centre to inject new life into its meeting rooms, co-working and casual spaces with facilities that match most modern businesses– from start-up to seasoned pro.

Jason Bell, Business Centres Lead, comments: “We’re really pleased to see the Centre going from strength to strength. We genuinely believe that Elsie Whiteley Innovation Centre is a great place to work and grow a business, which is why we have re-invested into the mill to create a modern and welcoming environment.

“Our record occupancy levels are testament to the hard work of our teams, who live and breathe our ethos, helping to build a supportive business community. We have a flexible approach to working and this is underpinned by traditional values, where we hope all the businesses we work with feel a sense of stability while having room to grow.”

The mill’s heritage background and striking architectural features, combined with modern and considered design elements, have contributed to help it become one of the region’s most coveted workspace providers. It inspires collaboration and productivity, while offering an unmatched experience thanks to a friendly front of house team and the delicious in-house eatery, Café No.5.

“I would like to thank HOT for the opportunity and space to grow. I’d encourage any local small business to get involved with HOT and use all the resources they have to offer.”
