Last week, Rebekha, our Enterprise Engagement Officer, had the pleasure of attending the Calderdale Vision 2034 event at Calderdale College, alongside professionals, community leaders, and changemakers from across the borough.
What is Vision 2034?
Calderdale’s Vision 2034 paints a bold and optimistic picture of the future. It reads:
“In 2034, Calderdale will be an enterprising place, full of opportunity, where we can all live a larger life. We will always be kind and welcoming. Everyone will have reason to be full of hope and this will enable us to thrive and get us through testing times. We will be celebrated for our distinctive heritage, nature and creativity that everyone can enjoy.”
This inspiring statement is more than just words—it’s a shared ambition that calls on everyone in Calderdale to contribute to a stronger, more inclusive future.
Stories That Shape the Vision
The event was brought to life through a series of powerful and personal stories from individuals and businesses around Calderdale. Each one touched on the core themes of the Vision—enterprise, opportunity, welcoming, kindness, hope, heritage, nature and creativity. These heartfelt and thought-provoking stories reminded us how deeply our communities influence the lives and livelihoods of those who live and work here.
We left the event feeling incredibly proud to be a part of Calderdale, and to work for an organisation that actively supports innovation, creativity, and enterprise in the borough.

At the Elsie Whiteley Innovation Centre, we’re excited about the future. We’re proud of the role we play in Calderdale’s economy and community, and we’re looking forward to contributing to the Vision 2034 journey.
