Creating Space for Wellbeing: Our New Therapy Room

Here at the Elsie Whiteley Innovation Centre, we believe in the importance of wellbeing. That’s why we’re delighted to introduce our new Therapy Room.

The room offers a calm, professional and private environment designed for therapists, counsellors, wellbeing practitioners and holistic health professionals. Nestled within our historic mill conversion and overlooking our Peace Garden, it provides a welcoming setting for client appointments. Available to hire by the half day or full day, it offers all the benefits of a professional therapy space without the long-term commitment and costs associated with renting a permanent office.

As a business centre, we listen closely to the needs of local businesses and professionals to ensure we continue providing the facilities and support they need to succeed. Through conversations with local therapists and wellbeing practitioners, we identified a common challenge: many professionals wanted access to a dedicated therapy space but could not justify the cost of a full-time office, particularly when appointments may only take place on certain days of the week.

In response, we created a flexible and affordable therapy room that allows practitioners to access a professional environment when they need it, without the commitment of a permanent lease.

As Calderdale continues to prioritise emotional wellbeing, the need for accessible, professional therapy spaces has never been greater. Recent local data shows that 10.7% of adults in Calderdale have been diagnosed with depression, higher than the national average of 8.3%, while around 25,900 local adults are estimated to be living with a common mental health condition such as anxiety or depression. The borough also reports higher levels of low happiness and life satisfaction than the England average, highlighting the growing demand for mental health and wellbeing support services across the community.
