Building Connections That Matter: Highlights from July’s HOT Networking Event with Simon Wallace of Avensure
This month’s HOT Networking event was a fantastic success as we welcomed Simon Wallace from Avensure to speak on a topic that’s critical for every business: HR and Employment Law. With many changes in legislation recently, Simon’s talk offered invaluable insights and practical advice on how businesses can stay compliant, protect their employees, and future-proof their operations.
Avensure, a Manchester-based firm, specialises in HR, Employment Law, and Health & Safety, supporting companies of all sizes across the UK. Simon’s engaging and informative session gave attendees a clear understanding of the latest regulatory updates—and what they mean in the real world of business.
We were especially excited to welcome 20 businesses to this month’s event, with 9 of them attending for the first time. Even more exciting: several of these were completely new to networking! We’re thrilled they chose HOT Networking as their starting point, and we hope it’s the beginning of many meaningful business connections for them.
We would also like to take this opportunity to once again thank our partners The Mid-Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and AD:VENTURE for helping us host these fantastic business events and also helping spread the word about HOT Networking!
Why Networking Matters — Especially for New Businesses
Starting a new business is an exciting but often overwhelming journey. From finding clients and suppliers to understanding regulations and developing strategies, the early stages are full of learning curves. That’s where networking becomes a game-changer.
Here’s why networking is especially powerful for new businesses:
Access to Knowledge and Experience
New entrepreneurs can learn a tremendous amount from seasoned business owners. Events like HOT Networking provide a space to hear real stories, lessons learned, and tips that no textbook can offer.
Building a Support System
Launching a business can feel lonely. Networking helps new founders find a community—people who understand the challenges and are happy to offer encouragement, guidance, or even just a friendly chat.
Referrals and Collaborations
Most businesses grow faster through word-of-mouth and personal connections. Networking opens doors to potential clients, collaborators, and suppliers who may not have been accessible otherwise.
Confidence and Visibility
Speaking about your business, sharing your story, and simply showing up helps build confidence and strengthens your brand presence within the local business community.
We’re proud to see HOT Networking continue to be a space where relationships are built, ideas are exchanged, and businesses grow together. Whether you’re a startup founder or an established entrepreneur, there’s always something to gain from stepping into a room full of curious, motivated professionals.
